In the summer of 1939, influential families in Nazi Germany have sent their daughters to a finishing school in an English seaside town to learn the language and be ambassadors for a future looking National Socialist. A teacher there sees what is coming and is trying to raise the alarm. But the authorities believe he is the problem. Based on true events. Starring Dame Judi Dench and Eddie Izzard.
This film is an homage to British spy cinema, with dark undertones that critique decisions about women's education, indoctrination of children and adults, and the importance of standing up, however one can, to help stop others from perpetrating evil on the innocent. With Sir Sean Connery recently passing and the reveal of more unknown spy stories from WW2, both about men and female spies who helped fight the Nazis, this film definitely is timely in many ways.
