Helen Fremont, author of "The Escape Artist"

In conversation with Dr. Miriam Klein Kassenoff, Director, University of Miami Holocaust Insititute; District Holocaust Educator, Miami-Dade County Public Schools

Helen Fremont was raised Roman Catholic and didn’t discover that her parents were Jewish Holocaust Survivors until well into adulthood. The Escape Artist is a powerful memoir about family secrets, discovery and embracing truth. It is a remarkable tale of survival, as vivid as fiction, while revealing the truth about parents, who, coping with unimaginable trauma, hid their family origins.

Helen Fremont is an award-winning author and essayist. She wrote the critically-acclaimed, national best-selling book After Long Silence. Her latest book, The Escape Artist, was selected as an Editor’s Choice new book by The New York Times in 2020.
